Without a Trace - November 11
As the team investigates the disappearance of a bank employee, they find a web of lies and deceit. Erin is a foreclosure specialist and her husband Leon is a pharmaceutical sales rep. They are trying to have a baby, with no luck.
Erin finds her high-pressured job daunting as she becomes immersed in the lives of those who are losing their homes. When a man comes into her office with his young daughter and threatens her, it becomes clear how strongly Erin is affected by what she is required to do to keep her job. Everyone around her assures her she is just doing her job, but the stress continues to grow.
When Erin disappears, the investigation shows money was taken from the bank through transfers to an off-shore account and a dummy account.
A secret Erin kept from her husband was soon revealed. Erin had a baby with a high school boyfriend, and gave the baby up for adoption. That situation haunts her as she was recently told by a physician she could never have children due to an infection. She hadn’t told her husband of the bad news.
Erin sought to locate the son she has never seen only to find that he was recently killed when hit by a car. Devastated, Erin tried to reconnect with the former boyfriend, but found he was married and his wife was pregnant.
The investigation reveals Erin took the money to give to the couple who had adopted her son. When she found her son died, she tried to give the money to the ex-boyfriend, but he gave it back.
In the meantime, a confidant at the bank uses Erin’s scheme to obtain money for her and her boyfriend. Come to find out, the boyfriend kidnapped Erin to get the rest of the money. The confidant is wired and the boyfriend caught. Erin was found gagged and bound in the backseat of his car.
Last week, Steven Weber’s character stepped down from his position as head of the unit to accept a promotion, and Jack replaced him. Jack spent the whole episode trying to get his favorite chair back. Martin was uncomfortable knowing the higher powers wanted him in command, and discussed the situation with Jack.
Jack told Martin he knew they wanted Martin, and that he knew Martin declined. They ended the conversation on good terms. Martin was sure his dad was pulling strings behind the scene, trying to get Martin into Jack’s position.
Next week, watch for Danny and Elena to get close - very close.
Do you think Jack should head the unit? If not, who should be in charge?
